Ministry of Culture
The building that houses the Ministry of Culture was constructed during the first five-year economic plan during the communist era, with its completion spanning 1951-1952. It is part of the ‘Kinostudio New Albania’ ensemble of buildings. Showcasing the neoclassical architectural style, prevalent in public constructions during the first half of the 20th century in Albania, the project for ‘Kinostudio New Albania’ was designed by a group of Soviet architects and executed by Albanian specialists.
In 2019, the building sustained damage from an earthquake, particularly affecting the façade, which features neoclassical ornaments with numerous cracks and detachments. The restoration of this façade, including the preservation of its neoclassical elements, will be carried out under the EU4Culture programme.
