Recraft the Past: Build up the Future 3

  1. Are you a civil society organisation (CSO) seeking a way to help communities reconnect to Albania’s cultural sites and showcase the economic potential stemming from cultural heritage?
  2. Are you a CSO exploring models that promote cultural tourism sourcing from the community’s potential and related to cultural heritage sites nearby them?  
  3. Are you a group of artisans inspired by cultural heritage, working on ways to enrich and upgrade artisanal products and services?
  4. Do you have a creative idea on designing and implementing cultural events linked to cultural sites that involve communities and visitors?     
  5. As a tour operator, are your clients interested in exploring Albania’s cultural heritage?
  6. As a Culture, Business, or Tourism Innovation hub are you promoting creativity and spurring innovation through cultural heritage?
  7. As a CSO are you interested in energizing youth, women or other community group’s cultural life in the territories affected by the earthquake of November 2019?

If your answer is Yes, this opportunity is for you.

In the framework of Recraft the Past: Build up the Future 3, EU4Culture invites non-profit organizations in municipalities of Durres, Kavaja, Kruja, Kurbin, Lezha, Mirdita, Rrogozhina and Tirana to submit their proposals for funding projects that support communities living in the areas surrounding the cultural heritage sites affected by the November 2019 earthquake. 

The overall aim of the Call is to foster socio-economic and cultural opportunities for local communities surrounding the target cultural heritage sites through projects that bring about socio-economic development. 

The main themes of the Recraft the Past: Build Up the Future 3 Call for Proposals are: 

  1. Support development of Cultural Heritage inspired tourism products around EU4Culture intervention sites, that showcase and enhance the quality of local cultural goods/services and expand the capacities and opportunities of artisans and other CCOs. 
  2. Awareness raising and education through culture. Events/activities/products inspired by EU4Culture intervention sites designed and implemented in cooperation with CCOs, local communities and/or public institutions related to cultural heritage.

Organizations are expected to take into consideration the following cross-cutting themes when designing the project proposal: 

  1. Engaging communities surrounding EU4Culture sites in identifying, enabling and expanding employment opportunities stemming from cultural heritage sustainable development. 
  2. Visibility and tailored promotion of the EU4Culture sites in creative forms.
  3. Integration of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) actions including access to women, youth inclusion, inclusion of minorities, ect.
  4. A sustainable and environment friendly approach in all activities.
  5. Attention towards the long-term impact of the project activities. 
  6. Creating and fostering collaboration and synergies between multiple national and sub-national actors for cultural heritage.

Award:

The grants awarded will be up to USD 50.000 with an expected duration of the grant/funding up to 11 months.

Criteria for the participation in the Call for Proposals:

All non-profit organisations legally established before January 1, 2023, and registered in accordance with the applicable laws in the Republic of Albania  are eligible to apply.

These include but are not limited to:

  ✔ Non-governmental organizations (NGOs);

  ✔ Foundations;

  ✔ Civil society organizations (CSO);

  ✔ Grass- root organizations;

  ✔ Associations (of artisans, touristic operators etc);

  ✔ Research Institutes, Academic Centres and think tanks;

  ✔ Regional and/or Local Development Agencies.


Application Procedures:

The application period is open from 24 May 2024 to 30 June 2024. The project proposals (required documentation listed below) must be submitted electronically to the UNOPS office in Tirana at grants.albania@unops.org.

*Only applications submitted in the English language will be accepted.
