Grants Projects


“ROUTES4CULTURE” project will create four hiking routes in the National Park of “Lagoon of Karavasta”, in the area of the Turra Castle, around Spille and a bicycle route in the area around Kavaja Hills. The implementing partner will also organise an annual two-day fair and festival which will attract many visitors and local producers who will promote local specialities and craft products. This project is being implemented by AULEDA – the Agency of Local Economic Development with a duration of 11 months and with an EU4Culture contribution of 51,991.74 USD.


ARTISANS FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE – ARTCULT” project will build capacities of both local artisans as well as vulnerable groups in Kavaja and Rrogozhina, including people with disabilities, unemployed youth, underprivileged women receiving social aid in the field of craftsmanship. The beneficiaries will also be supported in setting up their small businesses and their artisan products will be sold in the gift shops of the Ethnographic Museum in Kavaja. This project is being implemented by Urban Research Institute in partnership with KUBE Studios, with a duration of 12 months and with an EU4Culture contribution of 57,415 USD.


“3E “EXPLORE – EXPERIENCE – ENHANCE CULTURAL TOURISM IN THE POST-EARTHQUAKE AREA” project will develop two thematic routes in Durres, Kavaja, Rrogozhina and Kruja, with one of the routes focusing on cultural and historical monuments and the other highlighting local culinary traditions. It will support local businesses, in particular women-owned small businesses, that promote traditional culinary arts, winery, handicrafts and farmers’ products. This project is being implemented by the Institute of Public and Private Policies, with a duration of 10 months and with an EU4Culture contribution of 49,040 USD.


“HERITAGE EMPOWERING AND LEARNING PLATFORMS” project will cooperate with field experts and local communities to organise workshops and training sessions to develop methodologies, co-create and design educational models as well as implementing cultural events at key heritage sites in Kavaja, Kruja and Rrogozhina. The project is being implemented by Cultural Heritage without Borders with a duration of 8 months and with an EU4Culture contribution of 57,476.40 USD.


“REVIVAL OF LOCAL TRADITIONAL CRAFTS IN KAVAJA” project will support traditional crafts producers by enhancing their capacities, as well as promoting  artisanship through videos to create a digital guide which will be shared with local tour operators. In addition, local unemployed youth & women will be capacitated for employment in traditional crafts through an apprenticeship scheme. The project is being implemented by HELP in partnership with Gjirokastra Foundation with a duration of 12 months and with an EU4Culture contribution of 57,150 USD.


“CREATIVE CULTURE-BASED DURRËS HERITAGE DEVELOPMENT” project will organise handicraft classes for students of the “Jan Kukuzeli” artistic high school in order to develop their skills in both crafts and marketing. Social and cultural activities will also be organised in four cultural sites of the city: the Mediaeval Hamam, the Durres Amphitheatre, the Durres Archaeological Museum and the Venetian Tower. The project is being implemented by Udhetimi i Lire – Liberi di Viaggiare NGO with a duration of 11 months and with an EU4Culture contribution of 42,200 USD.


“ARTISANS BETWEEN THE PAST AND FUTURE” project will organise a series of digital skills and social media training sessions, branding and marketing workshops as well as open air fairs. Additionally, it is planned to create an eco-friendly information point in Kruja. The project aims to boost social-economic development and sustainable development of the Bazaar of Kruja communities, in part through the creation of a dedicated digital platform. The project is being implemented by Progress Foundation NGO with a duration of 12 months and with an EU4Culture contribution of 59,338 USD.


“WHEN THE PAST MEETS THE FUTURE – DURRES CULTURAL HERITAGE REVITALIZATION” project will connect artisans and citizens through cultural events around archaeological and cultural heritage sites, in particular poetry nights, storytelling activities and thematic walking tours. The NGO will also produce a new tourist route featuring twelve Old Doors as cultural symbols and art objects of Durres history. The project is being implemented by Durresi Aktiv NGO in partnership with MuZEH Lab with a duration of 12 months and with an EU4Culture contribution of 55,220 USD.


“TOURAZZO – PROMOTION AND VALORISATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE AS A DRIVER OF TOURISM AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN DURRËS” will support the creation of the Local Network for Creative and Innovative Tourism bringing together field experts for developing a new Unique Cultural Tourism Product that will determine higher attractiveness of cultural heritage. It will further develop a new cultural itinerary in Durres through a series of training sessions for both the public and private sectors, aiming to prolong the tourist season beyond the summer months. It will also contribute to the promotion and preservation of cultural heritage and improve management capacities of cultural heritage institutions. The project is being implemented by ESN Albania NGO with a duration of 10 months and with an EU4Culture contribution of 51,920.20 USD.


“RESTORATION OF CRAFT TRADITION” project will raise awareness of young people about crafts and traditional arts through various activities, including setting up local culture and traditions corners in 10 schools in Rrogozhina and the creation of a handbook for children and young people in the importance of crafts development and preservation. The project will promote and raise awareness of society on local traditions and crafts in cooperation with media outlets. The project is being implemented by NGO Joscelyn Foundation with a duration of 10 months and with an EU4Culture contribution of 50,000 USD.


“AND TRADITION CONTINUES IN KRUJA” project will contribute to the social and economic development and the continuation of local tradition in Kruja. It will organise artisan training classes to build capacities of new artisans and convey crafts knowledge and skills to young men and women. In addition, it will carry out a series of cultural events, based on the tangible and intangible cultural and historical heritage of the area. The project is being implemented by NGO TID KRUJA in partnership with the Centre for Competitiveness Promotion (CCP) NGO with a duration of 12 months and an EU4Culture contribution of 55,303.40 USD.
