A group of architecture students had the opportunity to visit and witness the ongoing works at the National Puppet Theatre. The visit was organised as part of the Open House Tirana cultural  tours,  which explored various  spots of interest in Tirana.

Open House Tirana was organised by the Architecture Fund in Albania (AFA), a non-profit organisation with a mission to research, develop, structure and stimulate architectural thinking, debate and reflection. As a fundamental part of its educational mission, AFA organised the Open House Tirana as an interactive festival that opens the city to both its citizens visitors from all over the world

The itinerary included a visit to the Puppet Theatre, providing students with a unique opportunity to witness first-hand the ongoing restoration undertaken by the EU-funded EU4Culture project implemented by UNOPS in close partnership with the  Ministry of Culture. This experience not only deepened their understanding of Tirana’s cultural heritage, but also underscored the profound importance of restoration projects.

For them, it was a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience as experts explained the work done on the conservation and restoration of the theatre. By providing students with the opportunity to gain insight in the restoration process, EU4Culture supports them in cultivating appreciation of the cultural heritage and finding  inspiration to pursue careers in related fields.
